Remove silence from a video
The sound is analysed in 20 ms steps; pauses quieter than the level you choose and longer than the minimum are removed, and the remaining parts are joined. A small margin keeps words from being clipped. The result is re-encoded as H.264 + AAC.
Frequently asked questions
Will it cut music or background noise?
Usually not — anything louder than the silence level counts as sound. Try “Strict” if too little is cut.
Can I undo cuts?
Download is a new file; your original stays unchanged, so you can try other settings.
