Each frame is reduced to its own 256-colour palette, which is how the GIF format works — gradients and dark scenes can show banding, and GIFs have no sound. File size grows with length × frame rate × width: 5 seconds at 10 fps and 480 px is often a few MB.
If a GIF is too large for where you want to post it, lower the width or frame rate first. Many sites also accept short MP4 clips, which are much smaller — use Trim video for that.

Why is the GIF so large?
GIF compression is far weaker than video compression. Shorter clips, fewer frames per second and a smaller width make the biggest difference.
Why is the length limited to 15 seconds?
Longer GIFs quickly become tens of MB and use a lot of memory to encode. For longer clips, a trimmed MP4 is a better choice.
Does the GIF have sound?
No. The GIF format can't store audio.
