Trim video
Keep just the part you need: set a start and end time and save the clip as MP4.
How to use
- Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM video; it appears in the preview player.
- Play or scrub to the right moment and press “Set start here” and “Set end here”, or type the times.
- Press Cut clip and download the MP4.
Trim video
The clip is re-encoded from the exact start time, so the cut is frame-accurate instead of jumping to the nearest keyframe. The bitrate follows the original, so quality stays close to the source, but it is not a lossless copy. You can also remove the sound.
Only the selected part is processed, so short clips from long videos are quick. Very long clips take longer, especially on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Is the cut exact?
Yes. The clip starts at the frame at or after your start time, because the video is re-encoded rather than copied from the nearest keyframe.
Does trimming reduce quality?
Slightly, because the clip is re-encoded. The bitrate is based on the original, so the difference is usually hard to see. Use Compress video if you also want a smaller file.
What time format can I type?
Seconds (65.5) or minutes:seconds (1:05.5); hours work too (1:02:03).
