The reference is formatted from the fields you type, following the published rules of each style: APA 7th, MLA 9th, Chicago 17th (bibliography entry), Harvard (Cite Them Right) and IEEE. Names can be typed as “Last, First” or “First Last”; Chinese, Japanese and Korean names are kept as written; tick the box for organisations. Titles are used exactly as you type them, so apply the capitalisation your style asks for (APA uses sentence case).
Nothing is looked up online, so check the result against your style guide or your teacher's requirements: details such as edition wording, page ranges, URLs and the rules for non-English sources vary. Your entries stay in this page and are not uploaded or saved.
Frequently asked questions
Which styles and source types are supported?
APA 7th, MLA 9th, Chicago 17th (bibliography), Harvard and IEEE, for books, journal articles and web pages.
Does it fetch details from a DOI or URL?
No. It never contacts any website; you type the details, and a DOI is only turned into a https://doi.org/ link.
Can I use it for Chinese, Japanese or Korean sources?
Names are not reversed or shortened, and the layout follows the English style rules. Chinese-language conventions of your school or journal can differ, so check them.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything is formatted in your browser.
